We make personalized children's books, and we treat the details you share with the same care we put into every page. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

Payments are processed by our reseller and Merchant of Record, Lemon Squeezy. When you buy from us, Lemon Squeezy handles the transaction and acts as a data controller for payment information under its own privacy policy.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us

• Order & account details — your name and email address so we can deliver your book and send order confirmations.
• Story details — the information you enter in the book creator (hero names, ages, appearance notes, world, plot choices, dedication and book title). We use these solely to generate your book.
• Messages — anything you send us by email or contact form.

Information collected automatically

• Usage & device data — pages visited, approximate region, browser and device type, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy).

We do not knowingly request sensitive personal data. Please keep story details light and age-appropriate; a detail or two is all the magic needs.

3. How we use your information

• To create, preview and deliver your personalized book.
• To process orders, subscriptions and send transactional emails (receipts, delivery links, renewal notices).
• To provide customer support and respond to your requests.
• To maintain, secure and improve our website and services.
• To comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud or abuse.

We rely on the lawful bases of performing our contract with you, your consent (for optional cookies and marketing), our legitimate interests (in running and improving the service securely), and legal obligation.

4. Children's privacy

MagicBooks is designed for parents and guardians who create books for the children in their lives. Our services are intended for use by adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. The story details you enter are provided by you, the adult account holder, and are used only to craft the book you requested.

5. Sharing your information

We never sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run MagicBooks, under contracts that require them to protect it:

• Lemon Squeezy — payment processing and Merchant-of-Record services.
• Hosting & infrastructure providers — to operate the website and store files.
• Email delivery providers — to send order and account emails.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of MagicBooks, our users or others.

6. Data retention

We keep order records and the files for your finished book for as long as needed to provide the service and re-download access, and to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements. You may ask us to delete your account data at any time (see your rights below).

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, email [email protected] and we will respond within the timeframe required by law.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your data and to limit access to those who need it.

9. International transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where it is, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect it.
